Solar Storm in Progress

A geoeffective solar storm is in progress associated with the M8.7 solar flare, seen in the SDO video, which peaked around 4:00 UT on 23 Jan 2012. According to the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC), this is the strongest radiation storm since May, 2005, and most likely will have a geomagnetic storm that will peak on Tuesday. A model of the associated storm front from NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's Community Coordinated Model Center (CCMC) can be seen here CCMC Storm Forecast
